I don't want to forget....

I don't want to forget anything about Elsie.  I remember thinking that when she was a newborn.  I remember people telling me, soak it in, they grow so fast! So I did.  I would just smell her hair and kiss her cheeks over and over again.  Then I blinked and she tripled in size!

So, I'm taking a moment to write down things I want to remember before she triples in size again:)
Elsie has the cutest.... and fakest smile. Ha! I don't know how to explain it but she turns up the corners of her mouth over and over, almost like a twitch, and it's hilarious.

She will wave to anyone and anything and just laugh and get a kick out of it.. until it's a man, who waves back and then she is terrified and clings to me.

When I get her up in the morning, she hands me her blanket, like blanket first, duh!

Before bed, sometimes she hunts down her blanket and just lays on it, it is so cute!  She is so easy to put down! As long as she has something to snuggle!  The other night I put her in her crib and she stood up and cried, which was so unusual for her and then I remembered, duh her blanket! I gave her her blanket and she literally stopped mid cry, grabbed the blanket, and collapsed into instant sleep! It made me laugh.

Words: no no no with a finger wag, mostly to plug ins.. hmmm I wonder why? :) She calls dogs, and birds, "duh."  Hot, papa, nana, and her favorite word? Shoe. Then she mainly does beginning word sounds over and over like, mama mama, dada dada, wowowowo, She also will make animal sounds to dog, lion, cow, monkey:)

She cruises up and down stairs (just crawling up, and sliding down)

She LOVES making people laugh.   Once she has the attention of the room, she pulls out all her tricks!! like flexing her muscles, shrugging her shoulders, and an exaggerated head "yes" head nod (which she also does randomly when she walks too!)

She gets hurt...  ALL the time! Today she ran full speed into a drawer handle and got a huge bump, bruise, and some blood:(  Yesterday I caught her hand in the door hinge, she had a (literal) run-in with the treadmill , and a few months ago, she earned a trip to urgent care because she pulled a cord out of a plug, ever so slightly, stuck her finger on the metal part of the plug that was still partly plugged in, and totally got her finger fried! It was scary... turns out she just needed a 250$ bandaid with some neosporin on it!! ha ha guess we didn't need the doc to help us with that one:) Oh well, peace of mind is good too:)

Elsie has been cuddling with me lately, which I love.  Good times to cuddle with her are; when she is tired, when Derrik calls and I put him on speaker and I think his voice soothes her or something because she will just melt into me! And when I tickle her back, she just loves it!  She gets that from me!!

Elsie loves outside! Now that the weather has gotten nicer, we play outside a lot!  If we aren't outside, she sits on the step and looks out the window longingly!!

She has more hair, but still not many ways to do it.  I'm starting to think maybe she will have naturally curly hair!   When it is wet it is curly and if I just leave it it stays that way.  She has enough to do pig tails, or a pony tail, but they are the tiniest little stubs of hair!

She loves the water! she got her first dunking:) We went swimming with friends and my friend Jen gave her her first "swimming lesson!"  She blew in her face to make her breathe in and dunked her all the way under!  I think Els was a little shocked, but she didn't cry!  And she still went to Jen after that with no problem! ha ha

Now that we are close to my parents, Elsie loves Grandma and Grandpa Bennion.  If they are around, she wants out of my arms and into their's!  She knows when she goes to them she gets something good!  I'm glad she knows them well.  She will go to pretty much anyone, unless you are a scary man:)

Elsie loves to dance and clap!  If the t.v. is on she will dance away to any jingly commercials, and she'll clap anytime she hears any clapping too!

Sometimes I wonder how Elsie would be different with siblings around.  She will play by herself, but only limited amounts of time before she wants me to play with her, or pack her around if I'm busy.  When she wants my attention she wraps her arms around both of my legs, and if I walk away she just walks with me while holding on.  I'm probably feeding her dependence on me, but I love her leg hugs, and the fact that she wants me to hold and snuggle her:) So I admit to packing her around A LOT.  She has also just started to reach up and hold my hand while we are walking which I absolutely love:)

I love my little girl.  Everyday I think several times a day how lucky I am to have her.  I was born to be a momma!  I still can't stop kissing her cheeks, and smelling her hair, and squishing her round belly!  I know these years will be gone someday and I'll miss this, so I'm trying to soak it in!
